How Skip Public Holidays Works
Public holidays are easy to forget about when your presence schedule runs on autopilot. Without this setting, your status keeps being kept green on a holiday exactly as it would on any normal working day — which can look odd if colleagues notice you're "active" on a day nobody is meant to be working.
"Skip public holidays" solves this by checking each scheduled day against a public holiday calendar for the country you choose. When today is a recognized national public holiday, Stay Green simply suppresses that day's scheduled window — your status behaves as if you had no schedule set for that day at all.
How to Turn It On
- Open your dashboard's Schedule section.
- Check "Skip public holidays."
- Choose your country from the dropdown.
- It applies automatically from the next matching holiday onward.
Schedule Mode Only
This setting only has an effect when you're using a schedule. If your account is set to Always Active, your status runs 24/7 regardless of the date, so there's no holiday to skip — the option simply doesn't apply.
What Counts as a Holiday
Only nationwide public holidays count toward this feature — not regional or state-only observances. The one exception is the United Kingdom, where England & Wales regional holidays are also included, since that matches the most common convention people mean when they say "UK public holiday."
Fail-Safe by Design
Holiday data comes from a third-party public holiday API. If that data source is temporarily unavailable, Stay Green fails safe: rather than risk incorrectly treating a normal workday as a holiday, it treats the day as a normal workday and keeps your schedule running as usual. You should never end up unexpectedly grey on a day you meant to be working because of a data outage.
Country Coverage
Most countries are supported. The one notable exception is India, which isn't currently offered because reliable, structured public holiday data isn't published for it by the data source Stay Green relies on.
