How Overnight Scheduling Works
A standard schedule window has a start time earlier than its end time β say, 9:00 to 17:00, all within the same day. Night shifts are the opposite: the start time is later than the end time, because the shift begins in the evening and finishes the following morning.
Stay Green treats a window like this as a single continuous overnight shift rather than two separate pieces. There's no glitch or reset at midnight, and no need to add a second window on the following day to cover the early-morning hours β it's handled as one shift from start to finish.
Setting It Up
- Open your dashboard's Schedule section.
- Click the π "Night shift" preset button (or manually set a start time later than the end time, e.g. 22:00β06:00).
- Save β it applies immediately, including across midnight.
What Happens at Midnight
Because the shift spans two calendar days, the portion that runs after midnight is attributed back to the day the shift started rather than treated as belonging to the new day. In practice this just means you don't have to think about it β set the one window and the schedule maths behind it handles the crossover for you.
Combining with Per-Day Scheduling
If you only work nights on certain days, turn on "Different times per day" and set an overnight window just on the specific days you need it β the rest of the week can keep whatever hours suit it.
Slack and Teams
Overnight windows work identically whether you're setting up the Slack panel or the Teams panel β there's no difference in how the night shift preset or manual overnight times behave between the two.
