Quick Answer

When you click "Manage subscription" on an active plan, Stay Green offers to pause your presence schedule instead of cancelling outright — so you keep your account and settings intact and can pick back up anytime without re-setting everything up.

Why Pause Instead of Cancel

Most reasons people go looking for the cancel button are actually temporary — a slower period at work, a long break, or just wanting your Slack status to behave normally for a while. Cancelling for that kind of situation means losing your account setup and having to reconnect and reconfigure everything if you come back later.

Pausing solves the same immediate problem — your status stops being kept green — without giving up your account, your schedule settings, or your connection. It's built on the same underlying control as Vacation Mode: you're just being offered it at the moment you'd otherwise cancel.

How to Access It

From your dashboard, click "Manage subscription." If your plan is active, you'll see a prompt offering to pause before it takes you through to the billing portal to cancel. It's an extra step inserted in front of cancellation, not a separate hidden feature you need to hunt for.

What Pausing Does (and Doesn't Do)

Pausing only stops the presence schedule — see our Vacation Mode guide for exactly how that works. It does not stop billing. If your goal is to stop being charged, you need to continue on to the billing portal and cancel your subscription there; pausing alone won't do that.

When You Won't See the Offer

The pause offer only appears for subscriptions with an active status. Two situations skip straight to the billing portal instead:

You Can Still Cancel

The pause offer is just presented first — it isn't a barrier. If pausing genuinely isn't what you want, you can continue straight through to the billing portal and cancel from there at any time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I access this?
From your dashboard, click "Manage subscription." If your plan is active, you'll see a prompt offering to pause (via Vacation Mode) before it takes you to the billing portal to cancel.
Does pausing stop billing?
No — pausing only stops the presence schedule (see Vacation Mode). To stop billing, continue to the billing portal and cancel there.
Why don't I see the pause offer?
It only appears for active subscriptions. If you're on a free trial, you'll go straight to the portal (adding a card there is how a trial converts to a paid plan). If a payment is past due, you'll also go straight to the portal so you can fix your card.
Can I still cancel completely?
Yes — the pause option is just offered first; you can always continue on to cancel from the billing portal.

Not ready to say goodbye?

Pause your schedule from Manage subscription and keep your account exactly as it is for whenever you're back.
